Upon instructions from God, he left ZAOGA and founded Praise Christian Centre on 10th December, 1989 with five people (Pastor Oliver Moono, Reverend Andrew Mwenda, Ms. Faides Munali and the late Mr. Sam Kalyabantu (whose Chelstone home was used for the first meeting).
Apostle Ng'ambi hosts the annual Shekinah International Conferences in Lusaka.
"These gatherings are part and parcel of the vision God gave me to equip the saints so they can do the work of the Ministry. He specifically instructed me in 1992 to start these conferences which would be a time to bring the different five-fold ministries to bless the whole body of Christ," said Dr. Ng'ambi.
In July 2010, Bishop Ng'ambi was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity (PhD) by the New World Mission Dunamis International University (NWMDIU) of South Africa in honour of his work in the body of Christ both in Zambia and abroad.
The award was conferred by NWMDIU Zambia Representative Bishop Dr. Bernard Jehu Nwaka who is also Overseer of Living Water Global Ministries International of Kitwe during the Convocation and Conferral Ceremony which coincided with the Shekinah International Conference hosted by PCC every July. Dr. Nwaka said that God attaches great importance to the dignity and honour of his servants, adding that honour is not only confessional but backed by action.
Dr. Nwaka said that the award to Bishop Ng'ambi was in order because of the great work he had done. He explained that the Doctor of Divinity degree is conferred upon persons of distinction who have earned national and international standing in the field of Christian leadership and public service.
"Bishop Ng'ambi has through his work maintained an admirable conjunction of wise leadership and ministerial excellence," said Dr. Nwaka.
He said that apart from preaching the Word of God, Bishop Ng'ambi has over the years been actively involved in addressing social issues through charity work helping the poor, blind, orphans and vulnerable children, individuals and families affected by or infected with HIV and AIDS and training of caregivers through the Voice of Hope ministry. Dr. Nwaka also noted that Bishop Ng'ambi holds annual life changing international conferences [Shekinah] and that he had for many years ministered on Radio Christian Voice through a programme called Glory to Glory.
'He has made a substantial contribution to the work of God. He is one of the strong voices that have propelled the Pentecostal charismatic movement in Zambia," said Dr. Nwaka.
And giving opening remarks during the ceremony, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Executive Director, Reverend Pukuta Mwanza said the award reflected honour and years of experience, service and ministry by Bishop N'gambi.
Bishop N'gambi is married to Prophetess Isabel N'gambi and they have six children (Mutepa, Joshua, Edwin, Tama, Dalitso and Joy) and six grandchildren.
